Commuting from Godalming to London

Godalming is well connected by the train line, which offers services from both Godalming itself, and Farncombe station. Godalming to London Waterloo takes just 39 minutes, while Farncombe to London Waterloo offers similar train times. Guildford can be reached by train in just 6 minutes.

By car, Godalming is also extremely well placed - with easy access to the A3 - taking you straight into South West London or down to the south coast.

Where are the best places to buy in Godalming?

Godalming town centre is predominantly made up of desirable Victorian properties. The town centre has more than 130 listed buildings, which range from timber-framed Tudor structures to 17th-century brickwork.

Busbridge is often considered the most desirable area of Godalming - with roads such as Quartermile Road and Park Road / The Drive and Brighton Road being particularly popular with families moving to the area.

The Farncombe area, to the North East of Godalming offers better value for money - and it's own train station for ease of commute.

Music in The Park concerts are held every Sunday afternoon from May to September, at the Bandstand, which are free to attend and is always a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

The town itself is great for a wonder along the High Street, or along the River Wey, which provides an abundance of activities, whether it be on foot, on a boat, or paddle board! Roar Outdoor offer sessions for kayak hire, along with paddleboarding. There are an abundance of walking routes which lead to and from The River, and one of our favourites is the stretch from Guildford to Godalming Walk this Wey - Guildford to Godalming.

Thursley Nature Reserve is one of the largest remaining heathlands in Surrey. It is easy to navigate as there is over 1.3 kilometres of boardwalk with viewing platforms, giving access to otherwise inaccessible wetter parts of the reserve. Broadwater Parkrun takes place every Saturday morning and is always popular with all ages.

Godalming Food Festival is an annual event which takes place on the first Saturday in July, which encompasses flavours from around the world. There is always music entertainment, and Punch and Judy tend to make an appearance too! A great day out for the family.

Godalming's Friday Market is held in town every Friday.

Best schools in Godalming

Godalming is well served for both state and independent schools locally. For Primary School, you have a good choice depending on your catchment area, including Godalming Junior School (OFSTED Good) and St Mark and All Saints C of E Primary School. For Secondary School, Broadwater School (OFSTED Good) is located in Farncombe, while Rodborough School (OFSTED Good) is located in Milford. Godalming College offers a popular choice for college for many school leavers.

For Independent Education, you are spoilt for choice. Popular local choices include St Hilary's Preparatory School, Prior's Field School, Charterhouse School and King Edward’s School Witley, located just outside of Godalming.
