Case Study: Making the move from London to Surrey

Our experience of moving from London to Surrey using Property Finders, Surrey HomeSearch

We knew that it was time for our family to make the move from London to Surrey and had been searching for a property for about a year - during which time we actually sold our house in London and started renting a property in Woking in the hope that we would be better placed to find ourselves our new forever home.

Moving to the area helped us to get a better feel for the areas that we really liked, but we just couldn’t find the right property. We both work full time in busy roles and just didn’t have the time to proactively call the agents or attend viewings during the working week. We found a property that we liked and I guess we sort of “settled” in desperation. We got an offer accepted, but then everything went very quiet. We just weren’t getting any information regarding the purchase and we discovered that the owners of the house hadn’t actually found a property to move to. We waited…and waited…but we started to think that the owners of the property we had offered on were not seriously looking.

So, reluctantly, after a year since we commenced our search (and now with a baby on the way!), we decided that we needed to move on, re-start our search and this time en-list professional help. It was actually my dad who found Surrey HomeSearch and suggested that we meet with Helen and Catherine to discuss our search.

They were great from the outset, they really seemed to understand what we were looking for and had the intel on all of the properties in the area. Occasionally we would spot something pop up on Rightmove and wonder if it had been overlooked by our hardworking Search Agents, but Catherine and Helen would respond immediately and let us know the reasons this one had not made their shortlist. Their knowledge on the area, schools and local transport was also invaluable.

Fast forward 9 weeks…and not only had Surrey HoemSearch viewed numerous properties and provided spot-on feedback on each property on the short-list, but they had also found us THE PERFECT PROPERTY….and managed to negotiate 5% under the asking price for us!

Three months later and we completed on our gorgeous new home. We’re in the process of getting the house redecorated and we couldn’t be happier. We think back to the property that we almost bought, and we can genuinely say that the property Surrey HomeSearch found for us was hands down better.
