At Surrey HomeSearch, we are often asked a range of questions from clients/potential clients looking to find their perfect property in the area. Have a look at some of the questions we’re asked – and our replies:

Where is the best place to buy in Surrey?

Well, what a question! This largely depends on your personal needs and reasons for moving to Surrey. At Surrey HomeSearch we work closely with our clients to ensure we fully understand their lifestyle and property requirements before advising on specific locations. We are so lucky in Surrey that we have excellent commuter towns, such as Guildford and Woking, but we also have stunning villages such as Shere, The Horsley’s and Ripley.

At Surrey HomeSearch, we help and guide our clients to find the perfect property in the areas best suited to them based on their lifestyle and social interests as well as work, commute and other considerations. For those with children, for example, we can advise on areas that are within catchment or on the bus route for their preferred schools.

If you’re a keen golfer you’ll be spoilt for choice with superb courses in ‘The Surrey Golf Belt’. For cyclists, there are endless routes through the Surrey Hills, which incorporate the ‘Ride London - Surrey 100’ route. You’ll be spoilt for choice with the coffee shops in the Surrey Hills - The Plucky Pheasant in Newlands Corner is a particular favourite of ours, with outstanding views over Surrey. Muddy Stilettos offers a great article on the Best Places to Live in Surrey, which include Esher, Godalming and Cobham, to name a few.

Once we’ve identified suitable areas, we enjoy taking our clients on orientation days to visit the locations that we think will work best for them. Surrey has so much to offer and Surrey HomeSearch will most definitely be able to advise on the areas that may work best for you.

Which is the best area to live to commute into London?

Guildford and Woking are the two biggest commuter towns in Surrey. The train from Guildford to Waterloo takes 35 mins, and you can reach Waterloo from Woking in just 24 mins. Many of the smaller villages also offer excellent links to Waterloo. West Byfleet, Farncombe and Haslemere, to name just a few. You really are spoilt for choice when looking for a quick commute into London.

For those looking for a village feel, but within close proximity to excellent train links, Surrey HomeSearch can advise on the best areas to consider.

We're moving with young children, does Surrey have good schools?

In a nutshell, yes! Surrey has an excellent range of schools, both state and independent. We really are spoilt for choice. Of course some schools are more popular than others and navigating the admissions process can be daunting. Catherine and Helen at Surrey HomeSearch are able to offer advice on schools in the local area, can provide advice on admissions and catchment areas and can even point you in the direction of specialist education consultants to support you through the admissions process.

How long will it take me to find a house?

Many of our clients come to Surrey HomeSearch as they have their own time constraints - they want to have completed on their property before the start of the school term, or a new job, for example.

Others are in a position where they have no time constraints, for example if they are looking for a second home, or a home to retire to, so these buyers have the beauty of time.
